Safety Boat RYA Powerboat Course for the more experienced
This is a 2 day course and it will provide the skills that you will need to help rescue any small craft, e.g. sailing dinghies, windsurfers or canoes. 2 days will be spent learning to cope with these various types of crafts on the water. This qualification also enables you to act as Safety Boat provider for racing or training activities.

This course will take place in the beautiful Fal Estuary, near Falmouth, which is a very popular dinghy and small craft stretch of water due to it’s sheltered aspect.
The RYA Safety Boat Course will include rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying.
Assumed knowledge –
Basic understanding of sailing boats and windsurfers. RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate must be held prior to this course

Safety Boat Course content –
You will learn the preparation prior to launching the safety boat. Boat handling skills and various craft rescues including dinghy, windsurfer, kayak or canoe (can be covered as theory). Towing safely depending on the type of vessel. Also included in the Safety Boat course are many safety aspects and the suitability of craft. You will learn to consider local factors, the best forms of communication and rescuing other water users. There are also end of day procedures to follow.
Ability after the course –
You will be able to provide safety or support cover to a range of craft, particularly sailing or windsurfing.
The beautiful and award winning Mylor Yacht Harbour lies just around the headland from Falmouth. Parking is easy, and there are lots of other facilities here to. Mylor Boat Hire, the great Cafe Mylor, Castaways Wine Bar to name a few.
