First Aid at Work (FAW) is designed to provide first aiders with the knowledge and skills they need to respond effectively to emergency situations in the workplace.

This course –

  • Meets the Health and Safety Executives (HSE) requirements for first aid in the workplace
  • Is widely recognised as a level 3 first aid qualification

The training covers a range of essential first aid skills that are suitable for larger or higher hazard workplaces, such as construction, manufacturing and some healthcare settings.  There are a wide range of skills included in this training that will equip first aiders with the ability to respond quickly and confidently if someone is injured or becomes ill in the workplace.

This course covers all aspects of the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work Course and also a broad range of additional skills –

  • CPR
  • Choking
  • Bleeding, including life-threatening situations and the use of haemostatic dressings and tourniquets
  • Shock and internal bleeding
  • Burns
  • Fainting
  • Poison
  • Head injuries
  • Hypothermia and heat exhaustion
  • Injuries to bones, muscles, joints (including spinal injuries)
  • Seizures
  • Heart attack
  • Angina attack
  • Stroke
  • Asthma attack
  • Sever allergic reaction
  • diabetic emergency

First Aid Awards (FAA) are an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, the qualification sits on the

Where will the course take place?

We have 2 large classrooms here at Mylor Yacht Harbour on Admiralty Quay. We offer hot drinks.

I have a disability, can I still take this course?

Yes you can. We have ramped access 12:1, hearing loop and the car park is levelled access. There are also accessible toilet facilities in the harbour that are coded. We can give you the code on arrival.

Is lunch included?

No sorry, there is a great cafe in the marina though that does hot meals and sandwiches to eat in or takeaway.

Is there a cafe nearby to get some lunch?

Yes! Cafe Mylor and Castaways Restaurant both offer lunches. You can book online for a table which is definitely recommended, especially for Cafe Mylor.

Will there be a test at the end?

The qualification is assessed through practical demonstration and written assessment and a learner must pass both assessments to be awarded the qualification.
There is no grading of the assessment, learners pass or are referred.

Can this qualification be part of my CPD?

Yes, refreshers are always recommended on an annual basis for First Aid.

Can you come to our workplace to deliver this course?
