The qualification has been designed to focus on children and young people. This Youth Mental Health course covers areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying.  It will provide the knowledge and skills to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation, and provide support and guidance to professional help.

Come and learn in one of our well equipped classrooms right by the water in Mylor yacht harbour, near Falmouth.  Free parking passes available.

This qualification is not intended to enable Learners to diagnose or treat mental health conditions but to signpost them to the appropriate support and guidance. This course will give the Learners the knowledge to identify a person who may have a condition and where a person can go to get help.

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Stress

A Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. This qualification is valid for three years. Learners would need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.

The qualification is assessed through a written assessment paper and the practical demonstration of the first aid action plan for mental health. Learners must successfully pass both parts of the assessment to be awarded the qualification.
